About the Lake Tahoe Spiritual Living Center

This is the web home of the Lake Tahoe Spiritual Living Center.  Here you will find notices of upcoming classes and events.  The LTSLC is a satelite of the Carson City Spritual Living Center.  We are affiliated with the United Centers for Spiritual Living.  Yep, you guessed it, there are Centers for Spiritual Living all over the United States and the world!  Google United Centers for Spiritual Living and you’ll get a whole bunch of web sites, all with the same goal in mind:  to provide a place for folks looking for a spiritual home without all the religious dogma and rules.

So, with that in mind, here’s what we are doing up here at the Lake:

1.  Holding classes.  The first class is a meditation class, starting on November 20th, 2008.  Other classes are planned.  If you have something you would like to study, let me know!  If you’ve read a book recently and would like a discussion group, the LTSLC is your place!

2.  One on one client sessions.  I’m a licensed Religious Science Practitioner.  There is one other up here at the Lake, and next year will be a third.  It takes three years of training to be a Practitioner.  If you have questions about what a Practitioner is or does, or want to schedule a session, drop me an email at karen@laketahoespirituallivingcenter.com.  All client sessions and communications are confidential.

3.  The LTSLC is also intended to be a safe, quiet haven where you can come and sit in the silence, or meditate.  Contact me if you want to drop on by!

Who, exactly, are “we?”  Well, I guess the principle player is myself.  My name is Karen Linsley, RScP.  I studied for three years to get those initials!  I have a day job running my photography studio (www.imageangels.com).  My work as a Practitioner is not solely a labor of love, I am highly trained and do charge fees for what I do in my Practitioner work, but I love my day job and have no intentions of giving it up!  Although I grew up being exposed to basic metaphysical principles (my dad started on this path in 1960, when I was just four years old, and is now a minister at the Carson City Spiritual Living Center.  He’s been a minister since 1975), I had some other stuff to do for a while.  I started my spritual journey 22 years ago.  My foundation is the 12 Steps of Alcholics Anonymous.  At about ten years of sobriety I had a drama/trauma/crisis occur in my life that caused me to take to heart what it says in the 11th step of AA:  “Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understand Him…”  In the AA text book it talks about seeking, so I went back to my roots.  There are a lot of books out there that teach basic metaphysical principles, although they don’t always call it that.  Anyway, one thing led to another and I found myself taking classes down at the Carson City Spiritual Living Center.  From the first class I knew that I was going to go the distance and become a Practitioner.  It has been a wonderful and rewarding journey!  And, I am looking forward to my work as a Practitioner!

Some of the other players in that “we” equation are, of course, my dad, Rev. Dr. Gil Linsley.  My stepmom Rev. Dr. Gail Linsley.  Fellow Lake Tahoe Practitioner Brenda.  Practitioner in training David, also up here at the Lake.  And about 10 other Practitioners down in Carson City.

So, there it is in a nutshell.  It’s difficult to cover it all in an About page, but stay tuned to the regular posts on this blog for more information.  I hope  you will be moved to comment and to join us!
