Outlining

Emmett Fox was one of the  world’s foremost New  Thought writers, writing in the early 1900s along with Ernest Holmes, the Fillmores and many other folks writing in that era.  I’ve always found it fascinating that many of these folks did not know each other, yet they were all saying that same thing:  that our thoughts are powerful, that we have the power to heal.  It is simply concrete evidence to me that there is only One.  How else  would you explain that so many people were writing about the same thing and coming to the same conclusions, without even knowing each other?

Back to the topic: there is a methodology to healing, a science.  There are right ways and wrong ways to heal.  The wrong way simply means the healing will not take place.  Wrong ways can include some sort of blockage, some pattern of thinking that blocks us from having all good  in our lives.  Wrong ways can also include something in the technique of the treatment.  My organization, The United Centers for Spiritual Living, is the only one that offers specific training in the ways to heal.

As a Practitioner, I have been trained to heal.  I have the knowledge and the technique and the power.  I do treatments daily for those who have asked  for them, and see demonstrations regularly.  However, treating for oneself is not generally too effective.  We are too close to the issue to be able to see the truth.

Recently, a dear friend of mine told me that I was outlining.  Now, I had not heard of the term before, so I googled it, and discovered that it is a term coined by Emmet Fox, and refers to doing a treatment and then specifiing the way in which we think the healing should be effected.  This is not conducive to a demonstration.

Where I was outlining, my friend said, was in treating for myself for removal of lack and limitation in my life.  I don’t see that I was outlining, but it’s a good blog topic, so I’m running with it here.  And now that I know the term, I know I have outlined at other times in my life.

The problem with outlining is that it blocks the demonstration.  It prevents the healing from occurring.  In our relationship with the  One, we have a very specific part, that of knowing our truth and the truth of those for whom we are treating.  The One has a very specific part as well, to put into effect, to make reality, that for which we have treated.  We do not tell the One how to do it’s job.  This indicates a lack of faith.  We cannot know all the ways in which the One makes all things possible, and always says yes.  If we tell it how to do it’s job, we are limiting ourselves.

The point  to my post today is this:  if  you need healing in your life, whether it’s from an illness, or to remove a block that is preventing you from realizing all good, talk with a Practitioner.  We are trained for this, it’s what we do.  But don’t treat for yourself.  Get someone else to do it for you.  Know your truth, and allow  the One to demonstrate that in your life.
